Facebook scraper is back, though they don't seem to have been the bulk ot the excessive load. Apparently they own a whole IPv6 /29. The entire thing is blocked now at the iptables layer.

If anyone working at Facebook is having trouble legitimately using musl infrastructure, please inform your AI scraper department that they're the reason you can't access what you need and that they'll need to cease that activity and agree not to do it again in order to be unblocked.

The European Comisssion is asking for public input on their plans to update the current rail passenger rights legislation. The window for that ends tomorrow (Sep. 22)!

Cross border rail travel often requires combining tickets from multiple different rail operators. Because of this, when passengers miss connections because of delays or disruptions no one is held responsible for helping them get back on their way, unlike for example with air travel. The European Commission wants to change the rules to address this. Their proposal is that any journey bought as a single transaction on a ticket platform—even if it is made up of multiple tickets from different operators—should count as a through-ticket, and thus be afforded the appropriate passenger rights.

This is a step in the right direction and would be an improvement over the current situation, but it also it isn't enough. Not all journeys can be currently purchased as a single transaction.

I think it's important that the EU hears from us that (1) this is issue is something that we care about, (2) Their proposal would meaningfully improve #CrossBorderRail in Europe, and (3) it's only the minimum and should be adopted and built upon even further in the future.

It is the Highlanders' war clarion, the tune that is played before battle, the wild music that is supposed to quicken the blood of the mountain man and freeze the foe in his tracks. It commemorates the day two-and-a-quarter centuries ago when the broadswords came whirling out of the mist at Prestonpans to fall on Major-General John Cope's redcoats and cut them to ribbons in something under five minutes. I once watched the Seaforths go in behind it against a Japanese-held village, and saw for the first time that phenomenon which you really can't appreciate until you have seen it – the unbelievable speed with which Highland troops can accelerate a slow, almost leisurely advance into an all-out charge. And I've heard it at military funerals, after "Lovat's Lament" or "Flowers of the Forest", and never failed to be moved by it. Well played, it is a savage, wonderful sound, unlike any other pipe march – this, probably, because it doesn't truly belong to the Army, but to the fighting tails of the old clansmen before the government had the sense to get them into uniforms.

Le mouvement local des Éclaireuses et Éclaireurs de France vient de créer une communauté WhatsApp pour fédérer les parents et les faire participer à la vie du groupe.
Ça me met une claque, alors qu'au national, les EEDF promeuvent et utilisent les solutions libres (Mattermost, Nextcloud, Jitsi, etc.)
L'argument ? Signal (qu'utilisent les membres entre eux) ne permet pas de faire des “communautés”.
Je me sens abattu comme rarement.
