There's a lot of people pointing out that MAGA is acting like they'll never face consequences and concluding that means they expect to never lose power. That's possible but I want to offer a different explanation: they know they won't face consequences if they lose power.

What exactly makes anyone think that these people will be punished for their crimes? George W Bush violated the Hatch Act, stole an election, and committed unbelievable war crimes. Obama waged a campaign of international assassination the likes of which the world hadn't seen. Reagan's crimes are innumerable and involve drug trafficking into the US among so many other things. The Supreme Court has been blatantly corrupt for at least two decades. What were the consequences for any of these people?

Did ICE agents get dragged before the Hague for doing forced sterilizations under previous administrations? Have US cops been forced to undergo truth and reconciliation processes for running black sites in US cities?

I submit to you that Trump & co have every reason to believe that whoever comes after them, Republican or Democrat, will be their getaway driver.
