Unfortunately, Stepfen King's account does not seem to be activated for the Fediverse from threads yet.

Mastodon has introduced me to the joy of reading descriptive #alttext. I take in the image then read the text as icing on the cake. It can really add extra personality to images.

Hey @ourhcicommunity, I'm trying to bridge my account to Bluesky following [these directions](https://fed.brid.gy/docs#fediverse-get-started), but @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy doesn't show up as an account I can follow. The FAQ suggests this instance may be [blocking Bridgy Fed](https://fed.brid.gy/docs#fediverse-protocol-bot-user-blocked)?

The [hci.social FAQ](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TNzA5mMbkKhluLNVDqhvTkFWV7XzlWoR4ZujSGV0KVA/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.4zbd0os68q6o) doesn't mention anything about this.

Am I missing something? Can hci.social accounts bridge to Bluesky?

Someone mentioned I should port the bot to BlueSky. I have a placeholder there with zero posts. I don't feel motivated to start again on someone else's server, so I was lazy and did a bridge at https://bsky.app/profile/bbcmicrobot.mastodon.me.uk.ap.brid.gy instead. So that basically mirrors what happens here.

Are bridges annoying? Maybe?

A suggestion for those folks looking for things to filter: be aware that screenshotted posts containing filtered terms won't get caught by your filters as far as I can tell (q: this seems to be the case even if #alttext is included with the image?).

Might choose to mute the poster in that case. If someone's got a different suggestion that's less...<whatever?>...I'd love to hear it. Filters, muting, and blocking are really important tools and anything that would help people use them well is most definitely welcome.

This may look like a nerdy nitpick when it is positioned as discussion of subdomains. However, the lack of a widely accepted split-domain solution also makes it impossible to implement an ActivityPub endpoint which would use user handles matching their email addresses (email works by MX records, missing from ActivityPub and WebFinger), as well as hosting multiple domains on one server.

@takahe tried this. It exposes a lot of issues in other servers.

it's funny - and depressing - to see people here pointing fingers to people moving to Bluesky instead Mastodon, and shaming them for this decision, instead of.. you know.. asking "why?", learning about issues, and then trying to solve them.
